This mylar front rollsign was removed from Wayne Area Transportation
Services Ltd.'s retired 2003 built International 3200 bus #321. There is
no print date on the sign. It has eight exposures.

The letters on the sign were affixed to the white mylar. They started
to shift and warp on the mylar background after years of exposure
to extreme heat and weather.

This sign was donated to Rollsign Gallery by Peter Huffman. Thank you!

Rollsigns from Wayne County, NY
Wayne Area Transportation Services, Ltd. - Lyons and surrounding area
Wayne Area Transportation Services Ltd. began when a fixed route system was implemented in Wayne
County in 1977 using three vans. In 1980, Wayne County elected to join the Rochester-Genesee
Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA) of nearby Rochester, NY, but still operated under
their own name. Service was operated just Monday to Friday during the day only. WATS provided
service to 26 towns in Wayne County as well as a link to downtown Rochester with a shuttle that
connects with the RTS Park & Ride in Webster. WATS was the primary provider of agency
transportation in Wayne County, operating approximately 20 routes for Wayne County human
service agencies. The services offered included the following:

Wayne Area Loop Service - A loop service between Wayne County Monday through Friday.
Passengers would flag down or get off a WATS bus anywhere along the route.
Route 104 Connector Service - A service connecting the communities along Route 104 and
the RTS Park & Ride in Webster. Departure from Webster may vary dependent upon RTS Park
and Ride arrival. Passengers would flog down or get off a WATS bus anywhere along the route.
Route 31 Shuttle - Provides service along Route 31 in Wayne County.
Other Transportation Services - Several grocery shuttle services for seniors sponsored by
Wegmans Grocery and Pharmacy, medical shuttles and demand response services.

On August 19, 2014, RGRTA announced a rebranding of all their bus lines in the surrounding counties
under their control, including WATS, to be named RTS with the county name following, rather than
independent names. The changes were officially implemented immediately with equipment and uniforms
changing as they are phased in. RTS Wayne as it is now known, operates in this area to this day.
