Records from the Federal Register (Washington, D.C., Vol. 30, No. 106: June 3, 1965) lists George,
Paul and Mary Lanich of Kent, Pennsylvania, filed an application to launch Lanich Bus Lines on May
12, 1965. The service was listed as a "common carrier, transporting passengers and their baggage,
newspapers and express". Initially, the service was commissioned to operate service between
Indiana, Blairsville, Josephine, Elders Ridge, Jacksonville and other area communities.
The Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission (Pennsylvania Bulletin, Vol. 35, No. 22: May 28, 2005)
lists a petition submitted by George, Paul and Mary Lanich for the "discontinuance of service and
cancellation of their certificate, as a common carrier, by motor vehicle" of all routes and services
provided. No replacement service was offered to any of the communities that lost service at the time
with the exception of a purchase of service agreement with the Indiana County Transit Authority.
