| Sign Manufacturer's Brochures and Manuals TwinVision na, Incorporated |
| The parent company to TwinVision, DRI Corporation was a domestic and international digital communications technology provider to the public transportation and transit security markets. Along with TwinVision destination sign systems and its Elyse message editing software, their products also included: Mobitec electronic destination sign systems, Talking Bus voice announcement systems, Digital Recorders Internet-based passenger information and automatic vehicle location/monitoring systems, and VacTell video actionable intelligence systems. Established as a subsidiary in 1996, TwinVision na, Inc. designed, manufactured, sold, and serviced TwinVision electronic destination sign systems used on public transit vehicles. Based out of Durham, North Carolina, Twinvision was the first established United States supplier to bring amber- and multi-colored, solid-state displays to the North American market, a modern alternative to flip-dot, bulb, and ballast technology that had been the industry standard for decades prior. Over their existence, TwinVision's product line included "LeDot" Flipdot/LED Hybrid Signs introduced in 1997, Amber "All LED" signs in 1999, Chroma I (LED Full color route number with the rest monochrome orange) and Chroma IV (complete full color LED) signs in 2001, and Smart Series with improved processing technology and available in orange or white LED displays in 2008. Early Chroma signs had the full color area made up of three separate LEDs for each pixel, one each of red, green and blue. Newer Chroma signs had those three colors within a single LED body (See below). In March 2012, DRI Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Later, in July 2012, DRI Corporation agreed to be acquired by Luminator. The sale to Luminator did not include the Digital Recorders business, which was sold to Clever Devices. TwinVision branded products were still made by Luminator after the acquisition, with the two companies not fully merging until 2020. |
