With these conversions, I don't just throw things together, I make it SAFE. This includes removing older power connectors whose plastic bodies are brittle, weak and compromised, and replacing them with safe modern connectors that are manufactured in the same way as what are used in everyday electronics. They're also installed with fully protected connections or interior connections so that there's no exposed power anywhere on the outside of the sign. I do this with ALL the sign conversions I do. SAFE CONVERSIONS.

This sign rebuild is going GREAT! I always check my work as I go. I've finished altering the front half of the sign and removed some redundant parts for the modification. Because the mods very slightly changed the dynamics of the body as a whole I wanted to test it to make sure it all will go back together as it was. EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECTLY! Time to take it back apart and thoroughly clean the inside to prepare it for its new internal lighting.

"I'm fortunate to have some great friends who love transit as much as I do. Will H. is one of them. He got me this amazing old flipdot front destination sign from a bus (from Rollsign Gallery) as an early Christmas gift! This is the coolest and nicest thing anyone has given me for the International Micro Museum of Transit collection! "

Starting on yet another sign modification converting to run on house power! This one is a Gulton/Luminator 15 character flipdot sign. People LOVE them!
Took a little longer than expected to set the new LED lighting since it all had to be tested for brightness angle then measured along its alignment instead of following a body line, but I finally got it in and it looks great lit up! Next step is to set all the interior hard wiring.

The final product looks and works amazing! I kept the sign as original as possible, except for rewiring it to run directly on house power. The only interior change that was needed for that, was to remove the florescent tube lighting and ballast and replace it with low power LED lighting (a requirement). Other than that everything inside is as it was, as requested.
